When you visit the site, you shouldn’t be taken by what’s you see above the ground. This is just for those who cannot, for their age and their Fitness reason, to continue the marvelous journey to discover the true church, Which is a grotto10 METERS, OR 33 FEET UNDERGROUND. When you see it you can’t find in trace to tell you that this empty space is the true church. All that was due to the fear of the local citizens to not put their life in danger on the hand of the pagan ROMAN AUTHORITY AT THE TIME The true church is one empty hall with no single trace of on the wall as well as any Christian object on the floor to let you know that this empty and abandoned space was a church.

Later on after the empire adopted the Christianity, this place was given the name of “HOME TO VIRGINIA MARY GIRDLE: UM AL-ZENNAR CHURCH” IN HOMS. The Church is

considered to be one of the oldest churches in the whole world.

This name is associated with the Holy Belt of the Virgin Mary, due to its presence there, and because of its historical , archaeological, and spiritual value. It is the seat of the Diocese of Homs, Hama, and Tartous. The church holds a belt said to have been left by the Virgin Mary to Saint zThomas. Kept inside a silver storeroom that is opened on the feast of the Assumption of Mary. There is a wooden bell tower that combines Syriac and Russian styles. The lower hall, “The Holy Belt Cellar” served as a refuge during the 1915 massacres, and the names of survivors were documented on its walls. In 2p17, the turquoise windows were restored . The Shorouki choir performs liturgical hymns in Aramaic. The hologram application allows visitors to explore the details of the Holy Belt without touching the relic.
