THE KING OF THE JUNGLE

It is said that one day the lion was hungry, so he asked the fox, “Where is my today’s
meat? Go and bring me my food or I will eat you.” The fox said, “Give me time until I bring
you a donkey for you to eat.” The fox went looking for a donkey, thus allowing the lion to
spare him. When he found what he was looking for, he told him “The lion is looking for a
young and healthy animal like you to be the king of the donkeys kingdom, so go to to the
lion and get close to it.” The donkey said, “That makes sense. I start to believe in myself
playing the role.” The donkey was amazed and went to sleep dreaming of the position
and glory that is awaiting him. And the next day, the donkey went with the fox to meet the
lion.
When he got close to him, and before he could open his mouth, the lion hit him on the
head and cut his ears. The donkey was scared and ran away with fear. The lion said
angrily to the fox, “Go and bring him back to me, as soon as you can or you will be the
substitute.”
The fox went to the donkey and said, “How can you leave the company of the lion, the
king of the jungle, and thus lose the opportunity to achieve this royal position?” The
donkey replied, “Your trick is exposed, how you want me to trust you after witnessing
how he hit me on the head and cut off my ears.” The fox replied, “He did this for your
benefit, so that he could easily put the crown on your head.” The donkey believed him
and said, “That makes sense.” Then he said, “ I agree with your common sense. So, let’s
go.”
They arrived at the lion den, and when the donkey, confidently approached, the lion didn’t
lose a chance, this time, to strike him and cut off his tail. The donkey, with a blink of an
eye, ran away and disappeared. The lion was fuming and angrily said to the fox, “Go as
fast as you can, and bring me this disobedient animal.” So when the fox went and met
the donkey, he was more docile with him, trying to regain back his confidence, telling
him: “Why do you hurry every time and slip away? You tire me out with your cowardly
attitude, you shouldn’t be scared.” The donkey replied, “Didn’t you see that he cut off my
ears and then my tail?” The fox replied, “He did that for your benefit. He cut off your tail
so that you could easily sit on the king’s throne.” The donkey believed him for the third
time and went with him.
When the lion saw him this time, he pounced on him and cut his head. Then he gave the
slaughtered donkey to the fox and asked him to skin it and bring him his brain, his
heart, his lungs and his liver. The fox went relaxed and came back with the brain, the liver
and the lungs. The lion, astoundingly asked him, “But, where are the brains? “The fox
didn’t miss to express what he believed the moment he found and brought donkey. That
this kind of animals, didn’t have brains.” And explaining his point of view: “If he did, he
would be alive today, and would save himself from the horrors through all this time.” The
lion then said, “You’re right, fox.”
